Our Daily Preschool Routine

  • Circle time activities: Circle time and learning activities are based on the Houghton Mifflin Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum. Topics include a monthly theme, calendar, counting and number recognition, shape recognition, letter recognition, and name signing and recognition. Circle time also includes activities such as group discussions, singing songs, finger plays, flannel board activities, stories, and music and movement songs.
  • Art project and/or workbook page: The children will work on art projects based on a monthly theme and workbooks.
  • Outside play: Depending on the weather, children go outside for daily physical activity.
  • Naptime: Your children will be provided with their own sheet/blanket during nap and rest time, which is offered for our full day program.
  • Afternoon activities: Our teachers plan activities for the afternoon including music, outside play, and art projects.
  • Meals and snacks: Breakfast, hot lunch, and snacks are provided.

A Better Way to Teach and Learn

Quality preschool curriculum: Kids Academy uses a preschool curriculum from the Houghton Mifflin Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum, as well as activities developed by our teachers. We also use a monthly theme and work on the following areas:

  • Literacy skills: Phonological awareness, letter recognition, comprehension, oral language/vocabulary, book/print awareness, writing/written expression, motivation to read, and fluency.
  • Math concepts: Number recognition and counting, measurement, problem-solving, and shapes.
  • Social studies and science: Recognize the meaning of community. Explore objects to identify what things are made of, weight, and sorting.
  • Social/emotional development: Learn to build beneficial relationships, control emotions, show compassion, and show positive social behaviors.
  • Physical development: Develop motor skills through indoor and outdoor physical activities. Develop fine motor skills through the use of creative tools and writing.
  • Fine arts: Art, music, and dramatic play.
  • Health and safety: Talk about healthy food and safety rules.
